Scholar

Scholars have learned the art of spellcraft through study and use it to great effectiveness. However all their time in the library means they missed out on a few combat lessons.

Spellcasting (Lv1)
You gain access to a large number of spells for the scholar. This differs from the “spellcasters” above in that your selection of spells listed is much larger and versatile. The spells will use your mind modifier for attack and saves checks rather than body or senses. Spells are organised by magic cost at the end of this class's description. You know a number of spells equal to your mind modifier + half your level (rounded down). Also whenever you level up you can choose to replace any number of your spells with another on the scholar list.

Scholar subclass (Lv2)
At 2nd level you can choose your scholar subclass, The subclasses are given more detail at the end of this class description.

Stat increase (Lv3)
At level 3 you can increase one of your three main attributes by 2 or two attributes by 1.

Practiced spells (Lv4)
At 4th level you can choose 1 spell you know that has a magic cost of 2 or less, this spell can be cast without expending your magic. You can change this spell when you level up for another spell you know.

Subclass feature (Lv5)
You gain a feature from your subclass at this level.

Stat increase (Lv6)
At level 6 you can increase one of your three main attributes by 2 or two attributes by 1.

Spell recovery (Lv7)
Outside of combat you can spend up to a minute and regain 1d4 + mind modifier magic.

Subclass feature (Lv8)
You gain a feature from your subclass at this level.

Scholar subclass: Spellblade

Study of the darker forces of work is often dangerous but you're up for the task are rewarded by searching ancient and dangerous ruins.

Subclass spells (Lv2)
You gain a small selection of spells added to your scholar spell list, these spells are exclusive to the Spell blade subclass.

Ghost nail
Magic cost: 2
Spell duration: 1 minute
Spell range: self
You summon an ethereal blade of ghostly energy into your claw as your action. The blade is considered a nail and uses the nail stats. However, you do not suffer the penalties of using a non-proficient weapon and use your mind modifier for the attack and damage rolls instead of body.

Ether armor
Magic cost: 1
Spell duration: 1 hour
Spell range: self
As a bonus action, strands of energy wrap your shell protectively. While this spell is active you gain an armour stat of 1 and your THA increases by 2.

Mage ward (Lv5)
Magic cost: 1
As a bonus action you can grant yourself 1d8 overheal. At lv8 you can add your mind modifier to the total.

Arcane stitch (Lv8)
Magic cost: 2
You can cause magical energy to heal your body's wounds and continue the fight. As an action you heal 1d8 + mind modifier health.

Scholar subclass: Elemental mage

Some mages solace in the powers of the elements and being able to harness them to devastating effect.

Elemental carnage (Lv2)
For any spell you cast that deals fire, ice, or lightning damage, any 1 rolled on the die can be considered as a 2.

Primordial casting (Lv5)
Magic cost: 4
As a reaction for whenever you deal damage with a spell that deals fire, ice, or lightning damage, you can deal the maximum amount of damage instead of rolling.

Elemental ward (Lv8)
Whenever you finish a rest you can choose to become resistant to one of the following damage types until you take another rest, in which you must choose a different type: Fire, ice or lightning. You can only have resistance to one type at a time.
